For over 25 years Lutheran Services of Georgia has helped tens of thousands transform their loss, grief and trauma into hope, healing and strength. From placing neglected children into loving homes to providing shelter and employment services for refugees each year, LSG serves thousands of those most in need. With more than twenty programs to meet the needs of the people of Georgia, individuals from newborns to senior citizens are served through our agency. All our programs provide services to persons without regard to race, origin, creed, age, color, or gender. As a private agency, we work with local, state, and federal entities, community organizations, and 140 Lutheran congregations and missions in Georgia. A board of sixteen volunteer directors provides governance and oversees agency operations.

The mission of Lutheran Services of Georgia is to provide hope, healing and strength to those in need.  Lutheran Services of Georgia was conceived in the late 1970's when the Sunbelt Resources Mobilization Project Committee created a regional plan for the development of Lutheran Social Ministries. The original task force gave birth to Lutheran Ministries of Georgia-Atlanta in 1981, then to Lutheran Ministries of Georgia in 1983. Our name was changed to Lutheran Services of Georgia in 2003 to reflect the inclusive nature of our programs while maintaining our identity as a Lutheran social ministry organization.  Complete History of LSG
